Up there with Orwell?

Good afternoon,

5+ years in the making > 1 day to go.

Get your bananas ready. The monkeys are ready to be let loose. Book one of the trilogy at least.

Nerves are definitely fluttering a little...

But given the ebook and paperback are both locked in there’s not much I can do now. A strange sense of calm has descended, ’What will be will be’.

Bizarrely, The Monkey State ebook is in a running battle with Animal Farm in the Amazon New Release charts. Not what I expected. Especially before the book's even been released!

It’s kind of a glitch because I wasn't planning to have pre-sale available. Yet somehow the ebook is purchasable. Even if you don’t receive it until tomorrow.

Note - please wait till tomorrow (if you can) to buy as that gives a chance of it doing well on launch week. Playing to the Amazon algorithm. From what I understand pre-orders don’t count for this. Equally I know a few of you have gone through and ordered so no worries and I’m very grateful. Feel free to search away on the Amazon New Release Charts though.

I’m also well aware that it is a new version of Animal Farm (almost called it Amazon Farm!) rather than George Orwell’s original from 1945. Still, it's fun to be up there with a classic for a moment.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and brace yourself for 'Blue Monday' tomorrow—supposedly the most depressing day of the year...

I'll send you a message to confirm it has all gone live as planned. Hoping for No Monkey Business 🐵

P.S. I can confirm the book release was not intended to coincide with Trump's inauguration.

P.P.S. If this is your first email from me - a warm welcome - please can you reply "Received, J. R." to help me and the monkeys get whitelisted.

I don't know about you but there are just some days, weekends or weeks that don't quite go to plan. It can be disheartening when the grand to do list you've written out barely gets a dent in it. That ONE thing you'd picked out on your must do list, doesn't get finished (or started!) Even your want to do list gets neglected in lieu of detours and distractions. An inability to appropriately manage your supposed priorities. Leaving a sense of 'I should have done more'...The book process has been...

If they were boxers they'd certainly be in different weight categories. And yet I’ve watched them both in the past few weeks. So let’s let them fight it out. Analysis below. Now I’m definitely biased. My dad sneaked me into the cinema for the first Gladiator back in the year 2000. I was absolutely mesmerised and have rewatched on many occasions. It’s in my Top 5 for sure. Which is why I'm surprised to say I much preferred Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. I guess I did spend my teenage years...

Life still feels like it’s a little on 2.0x speed, so I thought I’d have a bit of fun with today's email. Apologies to the non-footy fans here, but you probably still know of 6ft 7in Mr. Crouch. Run with me on this one if you can… Liv & I are suckers for sports documentaries. Some of our favourites: • 6 Nations• Drive to Survive• Full Swing• The Last Dance (Michael Jordan)• Welcome to Wrexham This week, we watched That Peter Crouch Film—over two sittings—in our prime pre-bed TV slot. It was...
