Getting Engagement

Good afternoon and a warm welcome to a few new readers.

One has already even petitioned to label this the 'Monkey Output Maximisation' newsletter...

It's been passed to Claude for review.

A shorter email blast today.

I've just got back home to Bristol after a delightful trip away and a fair few hours on the road. Most of this email wrote itself (in my head) on the M4 back.

Those who have an eye on social media may have spotted a bit of news from my world...

After smuggling in a load of Percy Pigs, a bottle of champers and a certain small item into Robin Hood's Bay, Yorkshire—I popped the champagne cork and the question to my girlfriend Liv.

Did she say yes?

Well, being a writer, you know I can't resist a good cliffhanger.

So you'll have to head to social media to find out.

One thing I hadn't contended with was the speed of the tide coming. We were almost trapped in the bay. Which could've made for an interesting afternoon if she said no...

Speaking of social media that may be the subject of my next email. I'd definitely fallen off it and out of love with it. Not that I was ever in love with it actually.

And yet, doing a few posts around the book and the events of this week, has restored faith for me. There is good on there. Do the (time) costs outweigh the benefits? That's one I'm pondering.

I'm off to catch the Arsenal game now. Think it might be the first time in my life supporting Man City. Sorry Mick and other gunners!

Hang comfy,

P.S. The Monkey State got 19,201 impressions from my first week of Amazon ads (about £25 spent), this (eventually) led to 2 sales over the weekend. A measly conversion rate of 0.0104%. But still - that's two strangers finding Claude and the Eldervaria World.

P.P.S The ebook version is currently running at 99p to make it super easy to join 100+ other explorers turning the jungle pages. If you can spare 30 seconds this week please tick the reviews as helpful on Amazon as this boosts the algorithm in the monkey's favour 🙊

I don't know about you but there are just some days, weekends or weeks that don't quite go to plan. It can be disheartening when the grand to do list you've written out barely gets a dent in it. That ONE thing you'd picked out on your must do list, doesn't get finished (or started!) Even your want to do list gets neglected in lieu of detours and distractions. An inability to appropriately manage your supposed priorities. Leaving a sense of 'I should have done more'...The book process has been...

If they were boxers they'd certainly be in different weight categories. And yet I’ve watched them both in the past few weeks. So let’s let them fight it out. Analysis below. Now I’m definitely biased. My dad sneaked me into the cinema for the first Gladiator back in the year 2000. I was absolutely mesmerised and have rewatched on many occasions. It’s in my Top 5 for sure. Which is why I'm surprised to say I much preferred Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. I guess I did spend my teenage years...

Life still feels like it’s a little on 2.0x speed, so I thought I’d have a bit of fun with today's email. Apologies to the non-footy fans here, but you probably still know of 6ft 7in Mr. Crouch. Run with me on this one if you can… Liv & I are suckers for sports documentaries. Some of our favourites: • 6 Nations• Drive to Survive• Full Swing• The Last Dance (Michael Jordan)• Welcome to Wrexham This week, we watched That Peter Crouch Film—over two sittings—in our prime pre-bed TV slot. It was...
